If the screen is blanked, and I hit Esc specifically (as opposed to just any
kind of mouse or keyboard action, as previously), it both unblanks the
screen and avoids the screen shield. But I've been trained not to use the
keyboard for that purpose (except maybe for a Control key) so it takes
getting used to.
