Do I need avahi?

It would even remove imagemagick, emacs, vlc, ddd, fvwm, the NVIDIA
drivers and a lot of other packages I need.

I don't --- I could ask on the fvwm mailing list if fvwm needs avahi,
and I bet it doesn't.

Perhaps yum has messed up the dependencies?
