I don't think so. 
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_boot_record#Disk_partitioning tells 
us that the MBR is at the beginning of the physical drive, not in a 
partition.  If you'll scroll down, you'll also see that the MBR is still 
only 512 bytes.  Here's what fdisk -l has to say about the first 
partition on my main hard drive:

/dev/sdb1   *          63    83885759    41942848+   c  W95 FAT32 (LBA)

I assure you, there's an MBR there because it's been there since before 
I installed (and switched to ) Linux.
