grub2 how to get into command-line-interface?

exactly how do I get into grub command-line-interface?

I am working from f16;
(still struggling with f19netinst; partially done but not booting)

I haven't had much trouble with the menu-interface,
but I would like to start exploring the command-line


This should be obvious, but not to me
