mail from the command line ??

the process that i described works pretty much as i expect if i
substitue gmail - smtp.gmail.com:587 and the required/updated
user/passwd...

so it appears to be a yahoo issue.

either I don't have the correct smtp port (I think I do), or some
other attribute is screwed up.
