  interesting ... the laptops that will be in use will be running
windows that, as i said, i've been told to try very hard not to
overwrite. so maybe a first-day exercise will be for students to
install this on their windows machine and create their own live USB
stick.

  i'll keep that open as a backup plan for now ...
