I sympathize with you, since I have always found your contributions
very helpful, and I'm sure you have a busy schedule helping us all.
But surely you are a special case, and must use many tools
most of us know nothing about.

For me, the essential properties of yum are simplicity and reliability.
Speed is not that important, as like Steven earlier
I don't mind doing something else while yum is running;
I usually run yum update while having my breakfast,
and don't mind in the slightest turning to the crossword while it runs,
although actually I can read my email at the same time.

I think Fedora is too quick jumping to innovations
without thinking of the cost in added complexity.
