I briefly scanned your dmesg output.....rather late here in Taiwan and didn't really understand what that has to do with pnmixer. If you're pointing out the libmozalloc.so related errors....there is no correlation between that and pnmixer. You may want to consult https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1038860 for that issue.

Thanks! Yes, the error messages seem to be similar to mine. But, btw, firefox itself is not crashing or becoming inoperable unless the system is also so.

My run of recovery from reboots ended an hour ago (usually always does the first or second time after that syslogd message shows up). The system froze upon hibernate (so did not even get to hibernate), and had to be powered off by hanging on to the power-on/off button. When it booted, I was thrown into the default fail-safe mode. I hit ctrl-d and the login screen came up.

Now I have tried to call pnmixer after the system has come up and we shall see.

I agree. I will also try and see if poma's suggestions work.

Have a good night! (Sorry to have kept you up so long.)

Best wishes,
Ranjan
