Ed and i are of similar thinking, so in addition;

 1- are you using a kvm switch to switch keyboard and
    marble between your boxen?
    if so, connect direct to rpi2.

 2- can/have you tried a direct connect of a keyboard
    and a different mouse to rpi2?
