Yum update warning

Allegedly, on or about 28 May 2015, Michael Cronenworth sent:

Since I don't do it, I'm curious what happens when someone uses a GUI
tool to update or install software.  Do they get notifications that your
old config has been preserved and that config.rpmnew has been left for
you to manually deal with?
