I don't understand what the problem is, but there are few differences between
F20 and F22, F20 used KDM as a display/login manager and KDE4,
 F22 uses SDDM as a display/login manger and KDE5/plasma2 (I'm always confused
by the naming), so things look differently, if this is not what confuses you,
please try to explain with simpler words (I'm not a native English person,
sometimes it is hard for me to read/understand (Sorry))

What exactly means "... enters a different screen (No KDE icon)" (in login
manger, or when you log in, on the panel?)

and "It seems to me that this

You see different default applications, missing something? (you must know that
you used Gnome live image (aka workstation) to install this, and then
installed group of packages which contains kde desktop, this can be different
to what comes on KDE live image by default. (still all of that is available,
but probably you need to manually install them)
check other groups kde*
# dnf grouplist hidden -v
like
   KDE Applications (kde-apps)
   KDE (kde-desktop)
   KDE Educational applications (kde-education)
   KDE Multimedia support (kde-media)
   KDE Office (kde-office)
   KDE Software Development (kde-software-development)
   KDE Telepathy (kde-telepathy)
KDE Frameworks 5 Software Development (kf5-software-development)
