But I am misremembering: this advice was on this list whose other advice enabled me to build the package:

I asked Philip to make the package and he pointed me to the pypi.org "authoritative source" before he disappeared.

But the changes submitted as as a response to BZ review appear not to make the package work. Reverting it back does.
