Thunderbird Opening Links

FWIW
on my gnome desktop, F22,
uname -a:Linux rwells-x240 4.1.7-200.fc22.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Sep 14
20:19:24 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

xdg-settings get default-web-browser
gives
google-chrome.desktop

but clicking a link in Thunderbird brings up firefox

and yes, chrome is installed as well
