If you run ffmpeg -codecs do you see....

DEA..S flac                 FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec)
DEA.L. mp3                MP3 (MPEG audio layer 3) (decoders: mp3 mp3float ) (encoders:
libmp3lame )

in the output?
