Still more experiments reveal that if I change the KVM to use
the emulated e1000 NIC instead of virtio, I get about a 5
or 6 time improvement in the transfer rate, so I guess gPXE
has a better driver for e1000 than any of the other model
NICs available in qemu.

Unfortunately, the e1000 emulator doesn't work nearly as well
as virtio once anaconda boots and starts downloading
stuff.
