I would think a simple static html site would work. We could set it up
similar to fp.o with using genshi for the template and setup the cron job
 for the site building process.

 added)?
We can definitely assist with getting this going. I don't believe we
should be the team responsible for *owning* this, particularly the
 content.

 user signups/database interaction?

From what i can tell, having this static site is just a interim solution
until the events "system" is put in place.

 I dunno.

I do like that having fudcon.fp.o subdomain. I think it is a good easy to
remember url. However, why can't we have fudcon.fp.o redirect to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Milan_2011? This sort of kills two
birds with 1 stone, no? 1) its static and 2) it can be easily updated. The
other thing to consider is that we don't have to manage another system
that is only planned to be an interim solution anyhow.
