Howto revert back to earlier version of rpm, as apt is broken with latest

Updates to rpm, rpm-libs, and rpm-python on F10 have broken apt.
How can I revert back to the earlier version of rpm? I have the earlier rpm
packages available in /var/cache/yum/updates/packages.
The current installed version of rpm (apt broken) is rpm-4.6.0-1.fc10.i386
The earlier version of rpm where apt was working ok is,
rpm-4.6.0-0.rc3.1.fc10.i386.rpm
I tried installing the earlier version using rpm -Uvh --oldpackage
<package-name>, and that was referring to the rpm package, but there were
problems as rpm-libs, and rpm-python were at the latest version (dependency
issues).
Somehow, it seems that I need to revert all 3 rpm packages to the earlier
version at the same time, but I don't know how to do that.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

some apps wont print

I have a data modeling program called Data Architect (theKompany.com) and I
have a subscription to trails.com. I can no longer print via either one, I
know that I used to be able to print from trails.com a few updates ago.
Thoughts ?

Audio snap, crackle, and pop

Since the last bunch of updates to F10, music played on my pc now does a
good imitation of old, scratchy vinyl. There are snaps and pops.

miro seg fault on Fedora 10 x86_64

I'm trying to use miro on my F10-x86_64 system but it dies with a seg
fault as soon as I try to watch anything:

A google search turned up a suggestion to tweak the launch script by
using the line:
~ MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME="/usr/lib64/xulrunner-1.9/" \
~ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib64/xulrunner-1.9 miro.real "$@"
Instead of:
~ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib64/xulrunner-1.9 miro.real "$@"
But it still fails:

file locking...

Hi.
Got a bit of a question/issue that I'm trying to resolve. I'm asking this of
a few groups so bear with me.
I'm considering a situation where I have multiple processes running, and
each process is going to access a number of files in a dir. Each process
accesses a unique group of files, and then writes the group of files to
another dir. I can easily handle this by using a form of locking, where I
have the processes lock/read a file and only access the group of files in
the dir based on the open/free status of the lockfile.
However, the issue with the approach is that it's somewhat synchronous. I'm
looking for something that might be more asynchronous/parallel, in that I'd
like to have multiple processes each access a unique group of files from the
given dir as fast as possible.
So.. Any thoughts/pointers/comments would be greatly appreciated. Any
pointers to academic research, etc.. would be useful.

F10 custom install

Clueless here,
I've got an F10 install running well, and I'd like to move the system to
a flash disk. This flash will become the boot device for a small system
I'm building. Can I just use "cp" and end up with a workable system? I
know that I need to do a grub install. Anything else?
I'd appreciate any clues about what I need to tweak on the resulting
flash to get it booting/running.

FC10 Boot Problems - FakeRaid

My server has 5 SATA drives. I have two pairs of Intel stripped raid
(FakeRaid). These are drive C: containing XP Pro and D: containing
Vista 64. I decided to try out Fedora 10 and added a 5th standalone
drive since I knew that Fedora has problems with FakeRaid.
During the installation I added an upgrade from Hans de Goete that
allowed FC10 to see the raid volumes and I was able to successfully
install FC10 on the 5th drive. I've tried this with both the 64 and 32
versions. The install completes successfully and I can use the rescue
disk to mount the installation to check it out. So far so good.
My problem is that I can't find a way to boot FC10. I'm using a Vista
boot menu now for XP and Vista and wanted to add an FC10 option. I've
tried using EasyBCD but can't get it to work. I don't want to mess up
the XP or Vista installs as I need those for my business. However, I
would really like to see if I can migrate some of those applications
over to FC10.
Is there an easy way to boot FC10 without messing around with the
Windows installs?

kontrol on missing list

Greetings;
I have upgraded to kde 4.2, and two things catch me right away.
1. Switching the kde thing back to menu, I see kontrol listed, but its
apparently a dead menu entry, not even a busy pointer when I click on it.
2. Under F8, my logitech keyboards media keys for mute and volume control Just
Worked(TM) without me doing anything. I think this may be related to audio in
general cuz none of the system sounds are working although I can listen to
news video and such. The root of this may go all the way back to the fact
that the system finds 3 audio outputs, and seems to want to default to the
intel HDA built into my HD2400 Pro video card, and which is not even bonded
out to the card edge, let alone to rear panel connections unless its in the
actual monitor plug, and this monitor has no speakers. So the first thing is
to restore all the audio signal steering to the Audigy-2 (sb400) sound card.
That section of my /etc/modprobe.conf:

alias snd-card-1 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel index=2

I also had entries for the motherboard audio, which apparently didn't survive
the upgrade.
On a startx, pulseaudio says it can't do something and will default to the
intel HDA, then fades away before I can memorize what it offers for the
reason, so I assume that is where all my missing system sounds are going.
I don't even know where to start. Help?
