The rhythmbox devs have expressed an interest in implementing and
equivalent, and there's the option (assuming it still compiles) of
keeping the previous media player in the short term.

I'm undecided as to which direction I think we should go. There's a
number of things that need to be decided and I've been travelling alot
in the last month or so I haven't had the time needed to review it.
Another item on this list is the browser.
