Isabella,
Sounds like the server was still running when you copied the file over.
The server should be stopped when manually updating the dse.ldif.

I restore a ds from on server to second host , an copy the dse.ldif
file , trying to update the entry for nsslap-localhost on second
server is still pointing to first one /initial ds , how can we update
this entry , why is still can't take the host name in dse.ldif
