Indeed, migration from Gitorious is present at git.gnu.io. That's how we
moved Snowdrift.coop. And incidentally, Matt Lee is the guy who sorta is
managing it, but actually the host is run by GitLab folks themselves.
Matt simply asked if they would offer the community a host of the
Community Edition for those who don't want to use the plain
GitLab.com
proprietary edition.
FWIW, we tested other options. Kallithea remains promising long-term but
bull.codes seems a bit slow and the thing needs work overall. I think
both Kallithea and Gogs will turn out to be great, but just aren't fully
there yet.
