Hey all,
I noticed that LXQt uses Openbox instead of Kwin for the compositor/window manager. However, Openbox has been dead for almost six years[1] and doesn't seem to have a path to Wayland. Meanwhile, it seems Kwin works quite well with LXQt[2] and supports both X11 and Wayland. Moreover, it's actively maintained and seems to improve the responsiveness of the LXQt desktop.
Have you folks considered moving from Openbox to Kwin with LXQt 0.16.0 in Fedora 34?

Hi Neal,
Thanks for bring this up.
I'm aware that openbox is no longer being actively maintained. Being the main maintainer for Fedora LXQt spin recently, I am not thinking about moving to kwin at this moment. LXQt is easily configurable so users who want to switch to kwin can easily do it themselves. OTOH I still want to keep LXQt spin small in terms of ISO size. Last year we even got complaints about bringing a lot of kde packages as dependency.
As this thread has the mailing list copied, let's also hear what others say. I will keep this in mind.
Thanks.

Good nightzem first place I really enjoyed using lxqt, but as always there are some complaints that can improve the future
features and functionality you would like to see in lxqt
Total separation of the lxqt project components with those of the KDE (if necessary, make form with only the essentials)
Better mousepad support, move the mousepad as we type (better support for gaming on laptops)
Dark mode in a practical and simple way involving all the components of the system
Finally, I would like a group to be created on the telegram for better communication between users, since it is the most popular among Linux users.

Perhaps you might want to consider labwc[1] for an LXQt Wayland session? It's packaged in Fedora and I would love to see the LXQt spin support Wayland.

Hello!
I am in favor of using LXQt with compiz. Recent GitHub-LXQt discussion on this: https://github.com/lxqt/lxqt/discussions/2166 There were other people using compiz and compiz appears to be generally working well with LXQt.
Openbox is outdated, but in general it works, but there are some bugs that can be worked around. Also, picom/compton may be installed to work with LXQt (some workarounds also required like making picom autostart with system).
