What is the intended use of the 'USB' option?
The point of that backend is to provide basic transport to all USB printers. In fact, all drivers ought to work with the USB backend, and IMHO any that don't are buggy.
But in the case where system-config-printer *knows* that the detected printer is HP, why show the 'USB' option at all - why not just go ahead and install the 'HPLIP' way, cutting out a redundant 'options' stage?
That would avoid unnecessary puzzlement for newcomers to Linux and also make the install slicker. (Puzzlement because - as I did at first - they are liable to select 'USB' as confirmation "Yes, the USB printer". Then they find - even more puzzlingly - that HPLIP does not recognise the printer installed via the 'USB' option!!!)
