One might notice that Red Hat supports making it easy to fork Fedora.
It is self hostable and is designed to make replacing trademarks easy.

One might get to know people who are on the board and make a judgement on
whether they have some secret agenda or not. (If the board is really
filled up with a bunch of double dealing psychopaths, they are wasting
their talents and should find some companies to become CEOs of and loot.
There's no money here.)
