Those don't sound entirely insurmountable technical challenges.  One
can run meego apps in a Xvfb (right?).  One can automate its
configuration.

That is clearly the dominant narrative.  I wonder how far one can push
things in a slightly different direction, where $PROVIDER is in fact
one's own home server/desktop, interacting with the data already
stored there.  That sort of self-sufficiency has all sorts of FOSS
goodness about it.
