Greg,
Since when do ambassadors need permission to take a "leave of absence"!
It is nice of you to inform everyone, but you are not obliged to ask for
permission, even though this is very thoughtful and polite of you.
Your career must always come first, especially if its education!

Concentrate on your internship, and make the most of it, if possible,
use that as your next stepping stone in your career. And maybe at work,
you will advocate foss, to save the business money and aggravation.
So, you see, you are always an ambassador of sorts.
