Can we fix the backspace key?

I think the current misbehavior of xterm is caused by

|   it no longer applies cleanly.  Hopefully we can just ship stock xterm
|   resources now, although I realize that is more likely to be a pie in the

Using

| XTerm.ttyModes:         erase ^?
| XTerm*metaSendsEscape:  true

fixes most of the issues.
