Something amock with rawhide?

is something still haywire in rawhide? My build of Octave 3.2.0 hangs on
i586 with 

*** glibc detected *** pdfetex: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x09a3c3a0
***

The package builds fine in x86_64 and ppc{,64}.
