I see....

Well, I've only done a netinstall and I'm having no issues with responsiveness.  Running in a VBox VM.  I may try a Live install tomorrow if I have the chance.

FWIW, the not preserving window layout problem exists in a scratch install.  Need to check/hunt to see if there is a BZ files so I can add myself to the CC.
