Persecuted by akonadi

I'm currently being inundated by endless akonadi messages,
all of which are completely incomprehensible to me, eg

[repeated 20 times]

AkonadiAgentServer(6760)/kio (KDirWatch) KDirWatchPrivate::removeEntry:
  doesn't know "/home/tim/.local/share/.local-mail.directory/trash" 
[repeated 80 times]

Couldn't akonadi at least stop sending the same message repeatedly?
