I don't think that FAS group is being tended anymore. It was created
before the current iteration of Fedora Magazine IIRC. Fedora Magazine
work is part of the marketing group work.

I wouldn't focus too strongly on FAS membership. :-) The important thing
is being enabled to contribute, right?
