Hi everyone,
I tried to install Fedora 16 PPC64 on a Powermac G5, but it freezes after displaying "returning from prom_init" when booting from the installation DVD. Hope someone has some tips to work around this issue.
Output:
Welcome to the 64-bit Fedora 16 installer!
Hit <TAB> for boot options.
Welcome to yaboot version 1.3.17 (Red Hat 1.3.17-2.fc16)
Enter "help" to get some basic usage information

Hardware:
Powermac G5 (late 2005)
Dual core 2 GHz
4.25 GB RAM
500 MB SATA unformatted
nVidia 7800 GT
Tried a couple of things already:
- checked SHA256 checksums for downloaded ISOs
- checked for burning errors
- Specified kernel flags in various combinations: 'text' 'nomodeset' 'video=ofonly'
- Tried both Fedora 16 DVD and netinst CD
- Tried F16 beta
- Zapped PRAM
Furthermore Fedora 12 PPC boots successfully, Anaconda starts up
Also latest Gentoo PPC64 + 64-bit user land are working fine at the moment after a bit of tweaking
Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
Kinds regards / Met vriendelijke groet
