I went ahead and filed bug:
 	830915
after having dropped back to the Stock F17 hercules variant, 
and still seeing failures there as well


I am not familiar with dracut's compose method, as I 
mentioned.  Is there a script or checklist that produces the 
files in the ./images/ directory that I might use locally so I 
can build and test amending populating the boot-up 
environment?
