So;
I dont use KDE; so if this is what fixes it, I should file a bug.
1) lspci
[root at lanesdesktop ~]# lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8385 [K8T800 AGP] Host
Bridge (rev 01)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8237 PCI bridge [K8T800
South]
00:07.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev
0a)
00:07.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Live! MIDI/Game Port
(rev 0a)
00:08.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): VIA Technologies, Inc. IEEE 1394 Host
Controller (rev 46)
2) /etc/sysconfig/hwconf
class: AUDIO
bus: PCI
detached: 0
driver: snd-emu10k1
desc: "Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1"
vendorId: 1102
deviceId: 0002
subVendorId: 1102
subDeviceId: 8066
pciType: 1
pcidom: 0
pcibus: 0
pcidev: 7
pcifn: 0
3) system-config-soundcard runs but does not configure sound
4) yes it is shown in the /etc/asoundstate - do you want me to send the
output
6) lsmod
snd_seq_device 10573 2 snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi
snd_ac97_codec 80961 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_page_alloc 12881 2 snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm
snd_util_mem 6593 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_hwdep 12105 1 snd_emu10k1
snd 62089 11
snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_seq_device,snd_ac97_codec,snd_hwdep
soundcore 12257 4 snd
-------------------
Everything indicates it should work but it does not... I will try the
kde stuff but dont like so much extra stuff on my machine..
