Can I recover a modprobe.conf from the running list of modules?

Rename /etc/sysconfig/hwconf and then run:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/kudzu start

It will regenerate it your modprobe.conf and /etc/sysconfig/hwconf.  In my 
case, I needed to add "alias net-pf-10 off" to /etc/modprobe.conf back in to 
turn off ipv6.
