i use an AP with WPA (netgear wgt624 + wg511T) and madwifi
drivers and wpa_supplicant works great for me (tho' i only
get 54Mbps and not the "Super G" 108Mbps). 

but i believe wpa_supplicant can do WEP as well (or at least
this web page suggests:
