KDE menu - where is it kept?

There are some *.desktop files there -
in fact just those on the Internet sub-menu.
[I guess they are there because I added Kontact to the Internet menu.]

I see hundreds of *.desktop files when I say "locate .desktop".
I assume the menu uses some of these,
but which I don't know.
