Moving "/" what are the chances of this working?

if you already have separate /home and /usr/local partitions, i can't
imagine how you've managed to fill up 10G of root.  i would try to
figure out where all that content is and, if it's actually essential
(which i doubt), then just create some new filesystems and offload
some of that.

i've never needed larger than a 1G root filesystem for *any* of my
fedora systems.
