events/0 eats 50% CPU when Network Manager runs

Booting kernels 2.6.32.10-90.fc12.i686.PAE or 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE
show same behavior.

When the CPU load is high, the machine is slow to respond to keyboard
events.
