Might I recommend:

It's coming out in October, but it's a 10.1" Android tablet for $300
USD. Seems like it might fit the bill.

Also, Archos is one of the few Android tablet manufacturers that are
actually in compliance with the GPL, having the source code of the GPL
components readily-available for download on their website:
