I'm about to go get a new keyboard, but before leaving, I took a look at
the logs on my laptop. /var/log/gdm.log doesn't exist, and the contents
of /var/log/gdm are as follows:
-rw-r--r-- 1 gdm gdm 40614 Dec 12 11:12 :0-greeter.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 gdm gdm 35710 Dec 12 00:13 :0-greeter.log.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 gdm gdm 35693 Dec 12 00:11 :0-greeter.log.2
-rw-r--r-- 1 gdm gdm 35709 Dec 11 07:42 :0-greeter.log.3
-rw-r--r-- 1 gdm gdm 37573 Dec 10 16:31 :0-greeter.log.4
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 20018 Dec 12 11:12 :0.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19554 Dec 12 00:58 :0.log.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19430 Dec 12 00:12 :0.log.2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19554 Dec 11 09:49 :0.log.3
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 20982 Dec 10 23:48 :0.log.4

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 508 Dec 12 00:13 :0-slave.log.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 753 Dec 12 00:12 :0-slave.log.2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 508 Dec 11 07:42 :0-slave.log.3

If you have a pointer to some documentation on systemctl and how to use
it, I'd appreciate it, and others on the list might too. Fedora has,
for better or worse, changed to the new, sytemd/systemctl method of
booting, and there's no point in refusing to learn how to use it. One
of these days, after I've beaten both of my computers back into
submission, I plan on using some of my Copious Free Time to learn enough
about the new system to understand what's better about it, but for right
now, knowing how to tweak it will suffice.
