why do we use systemd?

I wonder what the outcome of it was.  There seem to have been only seven
votes, and a bug report was made about a few ppl who like systemd taking
over.

The ppl who want systemd to be the default could experience difficulties
to achieve that if the maintainers of relevant packages don't support
them, and how will the maintainers like the idea of supporting several
alternatives?

And only seven votes?  Are they serious?
