Hey all, here are some notes on Fedora virt happenings for June.

  Fedora 19
  =========

Fedora 19 is wrapped! There were no schedule slips since my last report, so
the GA release should be announced tomorrow, July 2nd. That leads us to...

  Fedora 20
  =========

Fedora 20! Here's the very tentative schedule:

  https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/20/Schedule
  July 16: Change submission deadline
  Aug 06: Change freeze, must be functional
  Aug 20: Alpha deadline
  Sep 03: Alpha release
  Sep 24: Beta deadline
  Oct 08: Beta release
  Nov 12: GA release

Again there's an abbreviated schedule presumably to get back on track after
the massive delay of F18.

One big change for the development cycle is that the previous 'Feature'
process has been refined and renamed to 'Changes':

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Policy

The main difference is that 'Changes' are classified into two categories: self
contained, and system wide. Historically most 'Features' were self contained
and existed enough in their own bubble that backing them out was a reasonable
fallback. However system wide changes like the systemd switch or the anaconda
UI rewrite affect many different components and need special classification so
they are handled correctly. In virt land this likely won't affect us much.

  virt-manager 0.10.0
  ===================

virt-manager 0.10.0 was released on Wednesday June 10. Highlighted changes:

* Merged code with python-virtinst. virtinst is no longer public
* Port from GTK2 to GTK3 (Daniel Berrange, Cole Robinson)
* Port from gconf to gsettings
* Port from autotools to python distutils
* Remove virt-manager-tui
* Remove HAL support
* IPv6 and static route virtual network support (Gene Czarcinski)
* virt-install: Add –cpu host-passthrough (Ken ICHIKAWA, Hu Tao)

Bug count on May 31 2013 : 307
Total bugs today         : 266

Pretty decent drop! Early F17 house cleaning, last minute F19 bug cleanup, and
several builds to fix auto-filed aarch64 bug reports all contributed.

  Bugs of note
  ============

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=974198
Anaconda text garbled in a VM with QXL

This is fixed now, but it was serious enough to make it on the F19 blocker
tracker for a minute.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=908888
Can't use PCI passthrough with KVM without turning off some libvirt security
features.

There's been quite a bit of back and forth on this one, but it's still in
progress.

Thanks,
Cole
