Well, I know many users that starts screaming internet is broken and
the only reason is some page forced them to be home and the search box
was lost. It's somehow expected that the first page loaded offers 
search box in the middle of screen even there are fields with exactly
same function in the browser already.

But I'm not saying it has to be there, actually, I like it without
any search field and as it was mentioned several times, no way to 
agree on the right search engine :).
