xdg-open not working for directories

This is on my laptop. I installed F14 when I bought it in January.
However I noticed this problem recently (sometime in March maybe).
That said, as far as I can recall I have never needed to do something
similar to "xdg-open <dir>" until recently. So this could have easily
been introduced by some other change.
