Council Engineering update
by Josh Boyer
Hi Env&Stacks WG,
As part of the on-going Council updates, I'm organizing a Fedora
Engineering update. This includes the various WGs, rel-eng,
infrastructure, and a few others. The idea behind this is to give a
brief update of the work your group is doing towards the F23 and F24
releases. Think of this as a 5-10 minute "lightning talk" of the
highlights you want to see in those releases.
The meeting is July 7th. It would be excellent if you could have a
volunteer present the update for your group and stay around to answer
any questions. Worst case, please gather the information and send it
to me and I can do the overview, but representation from the group is
clearly preferred.
If you have questions, please let me know. The idea and format are
somewhat new, so we'll work through this as best we can.

Considering pitching a data analysis focused Fedora edition concept
by Nick Coghlan
Hi folks,
I've started making some notes building towards the idea of pitching a
"Fedora Datascreen" concept to become a 4th Fedora Edition, alongside
Cloud, Server and Workstation.
Those notes are at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Ncoghlan/Fedora_Datascreen_concept,
but the gist of the idea is to expand the scope of Fedora Scientific
sufficiently to make it clearly applicable to anyone carrying out data
analysis using open source tools.
Since Fedora Scientific is based on KDE, this would also involve
reaching out to the folks behind the previous Fedora Plasma proposal
to seek their involvement. The Scientific Linux community would also
be another potential source of interest, since Fedora Datascreen could
potentially become a desktop counterpart to their more server focused
CentOS based environment.
I'm posting about it here on Envs & Stacks first, as the seeds of this
idea grew out of the "two audiences" I mention in
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Env_and_Stacks/Projects/UserLevelPackageMa...
Fedora Workstation covers the "software developer" audience well, but
I don't think *any* current distro does a great job of covering the
data analysis audience.
Anyway, I'd love feedback on the idea. If I went ahead with it, I'd be
thinking something around the F25 time frame for getting a formal
proposal together - after all, any related *technical* work can be
focused around Fedora Scientific in the meantime, while subsequently
elevating it to Fedora Edition status would be more about making it
more visible to potential Fedora users.
Regards,
Nick.

Absent on next 3 meetings
by Bohuslav Kabrda
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to send a note that I'll be missing on our meetings for next two weeks because of (hopefully well deserved) vacation. Since I've got some things to finish today, I will also be absent this time.
Thanks for understanding.

Re: Env and Stacks Elections - June 2015 - Results
by Honza Horak
Forwarding also to the group ML.
Congratulations, guys, to be elected and thanks everybody to express
willingness to help making Fedora a better next-gen distro.
Since most of the current members have already been involved in the
meetings, I don't expect picking up a new time-slot for the meeting is
necessary, but will add it on today's meeting anyway.
