In fact Tongan and Samoan are already 100% covered by Dejavu (all families), so
this is not only illegal, but totally unecesary

Oh, false alarm, sorry. I was comparing texttopaps and texttops incorrectly.
When a PPD is specified it changes the behaviour, and I only specified a PPD
when testing texttopaps.
The problem is in system-config-printer which is advertising incorrect
defaults.

Let me add that I think this only happens if the user initially (installs with
and) uses a US keyboard and then switches to jp one later (and maybe vice
versa).
I discussed this a little with whot and he suggested that it might be an
inconsistency with how gdm hands over the xkb data to gnome so reassigning to
gdm for now.

But make sure that the khmeros-fonts packager converted to the new guidelines
first

No idea, maybe ask Jens Petersen?

Is in the freefonts package, but it's better to require a dejavu variant when
an app just wants a generic font without specific style needs.
