Summary: Latest libgxim update breaks keyboard input in java swing applications
Alias: libgxim swing
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=488242
Summary: Latest libgxim update breaks keyboard input in java
swing applications
Product: Fedora
Version: 10
Platform: i686
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: medium
Priority: low
Component: libgxim
AssignedTo: tagoh(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: bobpoljakov(a)gmail.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: tagoh(a)redhat.com, fedora-i18n-bugs(a)redhat.com
Estimated Hours: 0.0
Classification: Fedora
Description of problem:
After updating libgxim from libgxim-0.3.1-1.fc10 to libgxim-0.3.2-3.fc10,
keyboard input stopped working in swing apps like squirrel-sql, db2 control
center and freemind. I can't type any character in the input fields. I've tried
jdk version jdk1.5.0_16, jdk1.6.0_12 and J2RE 1.5.0 IBM J9 2.3. After
downloading the previous version from koji, and manually reinstall it and
reboot, it worked again.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libgxim-0.3.2-3.fc10
How reproducible:
Open a swing application like squirrel-sql and try to type anything into an
input field.
Actual results:
typed text not seen in the input field
Expected results:
you see what you type in the input field

This is not the duplicate of 474010. This bug is about broken layout switching
at login, bug 474010 is about insane defaults.

--- Comment #8 from Akira TAGOH <tagoh(a)redhat.com> 2009-03-02 21:35:12 EDT ---
This bug was filed again according to what we've already got mails from
bugzilla, to restore the data in bugzilla manually. and to avoid assigning
different bugs, there was no rollback of bug # that used to be used before
IIRC. we should corrects that when filing though, the above bug # is exactly
invalid now anyway then.
Originally Bug #194875 may points to JIS2004 support in Japanese font. and you
should be in Cc too.. but anyway.
