Hi,
Just tried out Fedora 19 (XFCE) Beta, I still didn't end up with an Australian
locale after installation.
Firstly, I tried an English (United Kingdom) installation, as English UK is the
spelling we use.
1. Selected English (United Kingdom) as installation language
2. Did not select keyboard layout checkbox to match installation language, as
Australia uses US layout
3. Selected Australia/Melbourne as timezone
4. Did install.
5. Locale set to en_GB, not en_AU
Secondly, I tried the English (US) installation, as I suspect it would be
common for Australian installs to accept the default.
1. Used default English (United States) as installation language
2. Selected Set keybaord to default layout for selected language, as Australia
uses US keyboard layout.
3. Selected Australia/Melbourne as timezone
4. Performed installation.
5. Local set to en_US, not en_AU

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 971795] New: Handling the harfbuzz / harfbuzz-icu split
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=971795
Bug ID: 971795
Summary: Handling the harfbuzz / harfbuzz-icu split
Product: Fedora
Version: 19
Component: harfbuzz
Severity: unspecified
Priority: unspecified
Assignee: pnemade(a)redhat.com
Reporter: kalevlember(a)gmail.com
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, mclasen(a)redhat.com,
pnemade(a)redhat.com, psatpute(a)redhat.com
I have two suggestions for the harfbuzz / harfbuzz-icu split.
1) Don't do separate -devel packages, only library packages
It's uncommon in Fedora to have multiple -devel subpackages. In most packages
that split up shared libraries into separate subpackages, all the headers still
go in a single -devel package.
This would simplify packaging in both harfbuzz and consumers.
(It's fine to keep it split up as well if there's a reason for that, just
wanted to point out that it's an uncommon thing to do.)
2) 'undefined symbol: hb_icu_script_to_script' issues
It's an ABI break and needs some care to avoid breaking user systems. Before
submitting the harfbuzz 0.9.18 update again, all the consumers should be
rebuilt with the new harfbuzz (most will need patching) and submit them as a
single Bodhi ticket, together with the harfbuzz 0.9.18 build.
So far I know of libreoffice and webkitgtk3, but there are probably more.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 950488] New: Error selecting IBus in the Input Method Selector application
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Product: Fedora
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=950488
Bug ID: 950488
Summary: Error selecting IBus in the Input Method Selector
application

Description of problem:
Selecting "Use IBus (recommended)" in the Input Method Selector application
shows the following error message.
Dialog box title: "Failed to switch Input Method"
Message:
"GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._imsettings_2derror_2dquark.Code5:
Current desktop isn't targeted by Input Method."
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ibus-1.5.1-3.fc19
ibus-gtk3-1.5.1-3.fc19
How reproducible: always
This happens on a fresh Fedora 19 install, using the Alpha RC2 Live ISO.
It also happens on my older Fedora 18 installs, but I haven't kept track of
what I installed there.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start the Input Method Selector after logging into Gnome 3.
2. Select "Use IBus (recommended)"
3. There is no step 3.
Actual results:
The error dialog box described above shows up.
Expected results:
This should enable ibus, so I can use other input methods, such as pinyin.
Additional info:
This bug makes Fedora unusable for Chinese users and people who study Chinese.
I'm sure other languages' users are also impacted.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 909769] New: ui polish
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Product: Fedora
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=909769
Bug ID: 909769
Summary: ui polish
Product: Fedora
Version: 18
Component: fonts-tweak-tool
Severity: unspecified
Priority: unspecified
Reporter: mclasen(a)redhat.com
I had a quick play with fonts-tweak-tool - here are some suggestions:
- Set a window title - currently, it just has 'fonts-tweak-tool', which is not
great.
- Same goes for the dialogs.
- Inline toolbars. The +/- buttons below your lists would look much nicer if
they had the same appearance as the 'inline toolbars' in the control-center.
This is a little fiddly to set up; I am happy to assist with that - or ask
Cosimo.
- The lists should not change their width depending on their content - better
to make them wide enough and ellipsize overly wide items.
- Section headings need have some more padding above them
- Font Aliases:
- Should not have a . in the checkbox labels
- The combo boxes are too dominant; should not stretch them all across
- Bad baseline alignment between the "Sample:" label and the sample text
- Font Properties:
- Drop the 'the' in 'Use the sub-pixel rendering'
- The spacing of the three options in the Hinting section is not even
