Description of problem:
IBus can be activated on the search box at the Activities Overview though, the
characters in the preedit can be deleted by Backspace. the key events seems not
forwarding to IBus.

gjs-1.51.91-1.fc28.x86_64
ibus-1.5.18-1.fc28.x86_64
ibus-kkc-1.5.22-9.fc28.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.enter into the activities overview
2.activate ibus to start input in native language
3.type something in the search box
4.press backspace key to delete

Actual results:
no delete in preedit

Expected results:
should delete characters in preedit

I can confirm that. The same happens for me in the "enter command" dialog which
opens when typing Alt+F2.

Deleting characters typed already with backspace does *not* work. 
Committing the preedit with Return does not work either.
