[mfabian@Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_6 ~]$ cat /etc/fedora-release
Fedora release 25 (Twenty Five)
[mfabian@Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_6 ~]$ rpm -q ibus-typing-booster
ibus-typing-booster-1.5.14-1.fc25.noarch
[mfabian@Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_6 ~]$
When typing “word . ” in gedit (or any other gnome program), the result
is “word. ” and the cursor is after the final space. I.e. the automatic
deletion of the space between “word” and “.” using surrounding text
works correctly in gedit and other gnome programs.
In Qt and X11 programs, surrounding text is not supported. Therefore,
in Qt and X11 programs the result of typing “word . ” is “word . ” with
the cursor positioned after the final space. That is the best one can
do when surrounding text is not supported.
In firefox however, the result of typing “word . ” is “word .” and the cursor
is positoned *before* the final “.”. I.e. one space is deleted, but the wrong
one.
And the cursor ends up in a weird position.
See attached video.
